Energy-from-biomass firm EnviTec Biogas, together with Dutch energy provider Byont, has signed its first contract for the construction of a biogas upgrading plant with carbon dioxide liquefaction in Belgium.
Maurice Markerink, Managing Director of EnviTec Plant Construction, said the plant will connect to an existing biogas facility and, once live in July 2026, will inject 735 normal cubic metres an hour of biomethane into the Belgian gas grid.
In addition, 24 tonnes of biogenic liquid CO2 will be produced on-site every day.
“This enables us to actively contribute to promoting the supply of green energy and the circular economy of CO2,” said Roel Slotman, CEO of Byont.
