Natural carbon removal firm Rewind has launched what it claims is the world’s first deep mine carbon storage project in Tkibuli, Georgia.
It features a form of anoxic (oxygen-free) biomass storage. Biomass is added to slurry that is injected underground, transforming a standard industrial procedure into a carbon removal solution.
Certified carbon removal credits can be issued by locking away plant-based carbon in an anoxic environment such as a deep mine.
