The Indian stock market ended on a positive note on July 1, 2026, with the benchmark indices recording steady gains. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 0.58% to close at 76,922.64, while the Nifty 50 gained 0.51% to settle at 23,987.95. However, the performance of renewable energy, power, and electric mobility stocks remained mixed, as investors showed selective buying across the sector.
Among the green energy stocks, Praj Industries emerged as one of the strongest performers during the trading session. The stock climbed 2.92% on the BSE and 2.85% on the NSE, ending the day near ₹361. Adani Green Energy also witnessed strong buying interest, with its share price rising more than 2.5% on both exchanges to close around ₹1,530. Borosil Renewables continued the positive trend by gaining nearly 2%, finishing at approximately ₹614.
Some large-cap companies also ended the session with moderate gains. Reliance Industries advanced by around 1%, while Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) added nearly 0.35%. In the electric vehicle and battery segment, Olectra Greentech gained around 1% to close near ₹1,515. Exide Industries also remained in positive territory, rising about 0.6% during the day. Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy posted a gain of nearly 0.90% on the NSE, reflecting continued investor interest in renewable energy engineering companies.
Despite the overall positive market sentiment, several major energy and infrastructure stocks came under selling pressure. Tata Power was among the biggest losers of the day, falling 2.72% on the BSE to close at ₹375.35. JSW Energy also witnessed a sharp decline, losing 2.50% to end the session at ₹569. Engineering and infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) slipped more than 1.2%, closing near ₹4,091.
The mid- and small-cap renewable energy segment also experienced weakness. Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) declined more than 1% to close at ₹123.80 on the BSE. Insolation Energy fell by around 1%, while Inox Wind lost about 0.65%. NTPC Green Energy Limited, one of the newer listed companies in the renewable energy sector, recorded a marginal decline of around 0.5% and closed at ₹94.95 on the NSE. Meanwhile, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility and Websol Energy traded almost flat, ending the day with only marginal losses of less than 0.25%, indicating cautious investor sentiment across several clean energy stocks despite the broader market’s positive performance.
