Swiss multinational Holcim has made an undisclosed investment in Norway’s Capsol Technologies to scale carbon capture technology.
Capsol’s post-combustion carbon capture and heat recovery system delivers efficiency with a proven and safe hot potassium carbonate solvent (HPC).
HPC technology is a mature, energy-efficient chemical absorption process used to remove carbon dioxide from gas streams, that is widely applicable in post-combustion carbon capture.
Ram Muthu, Head of Operational Excellence at Holcim, said by combining Holcim’s expertise in cement manufacturing and on-site carbon capture with Capsol’s technology, it has an “additional lever” to advance decarbonisation and drive growth.
