How Mitsubishi Power’s technology is enabling the decarbonisation of energy

As 2024 draws to a close, the energy sector is at a crossroads. The demand for electricity is soaring, driven in great part by artificial intelligence, data storage, and cooling needs and in some regions by economic and population growth. At the same time, decarbonisation continues to be an urgent priority.

In an exclusive interview with gasworld, Javier Cavada, President and Chief Executive Officer of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) at Mitsubishi Power, shared his reflections on the energy transition and his company’s role in shaping a sustainable future.

2024: A year of change

“2024 has definitely been a fundamental year,” Cavada said. “We’ve seen society realising not only the need for decarbonisation but also the need to increase electricity production. We are moving into an era of artificial intelligence, data storage, and cooling capabilities—all topping the agenda.”
