Ignacio Galán attended a ceremony in which the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella received an honorary doctorate from the University of Salamanca. The event was presided over by King Felipe VI. The honorary doctorate represents the highest academic honour granted by the University of Salamanca.
Ignacio Galán, who serves as president of the university’s Social Council, highlighted the importance of this recognition. The distinction acknowledges Sergio Mattarella’s long political and academic career, as well as his strong commitment to humanism, culture, and European values. These principles are seen as essential for maintaining democratic coexistence and supporting the broader European project.
