The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has opened a new liquid helium facility to advance quantum science and computing research in India.
Now operational, the plant can produce approximately 56 litres of liquid helium per hour and features a recovery system to reduce both consumption and operating costs.
The facility is available for use by IIT Bombay researchers as well as other universities, research institutes, and industries, enabling experiments that require ultra-low temperatures.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology, described the liquid helium facility as a “foundational national research asset.”
