India and Denmark have renewed their strategic partnership in the energy sector by signing an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing clean energy collaboration and supporting India’s net-zero emissions target by 2070.
The renewed MoU, signed on Friday by India’s Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal and Denmark’s Ambassador to India Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, builds on the momentum of a five-year cooperation framework initially signed on June 5, 2020. Though the original agreement was set to expire in 2025, the early renewal underscores both nations’ commitment to uninterrupted collaboration in clean energy development.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Power, the agreement facilitates continued dialogue, joint initiatives, and policy-level cooperation to promote sustainable energy solutions. It also highlights a focus on enhanced knowledge sharing through expert exchanges, joint training programs, and study tours.
Officials from both sides noted that the renewed pact reflects a shared vision for accelerating the global green energy transition and deepening bilateral efforts in renewable energy innovation and deployment.
