INTEC Energy Solutions Wins EPC Contract for 171 MWp Glorit Solar Farm in New Zealand

INTEC Energy Solutions has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the 171 MWp Glorit Solar Farm in New Zealand by project developers Lightsource bp and Contact Energy.

The utility-scale solar project will be developed on the Kaipara Coast, north of Kaukapakapa in North Auckland, and is expected to make a significant contribution to New Zealand’s renewable energy capacity. Once operational, the solar farm is projected to generate enough clean electricity to supply the equivalent of approximately 40,000 homes annually.

As part of the contract, INTEC will deliver the full EPC scope in partnership with COMPLANT. The project scope also includes high-voltage (HV) works and long-term operations and maintenance (O&M) services following project completion.

Construction is scheduled to commence shortly, with the project expected to be completed during the second half of 2028.

The Glorit Solar Farm has been designed with flexibility to accommodate future battery energy storage and grid firming capabilities, supporting New Zealand’s long-term strategy to diversify its renewable energy portfolio and strengthen grid reliability.

In addition to expanding renewable electricity generation, the project is expected to create employment opportunities during construction and support regional businesses through local supply chain partnerships.

Phil Wood, Country Manager for Australia and New Zealand at INTEC Energy Solutions, said the Glorit project represents another milestone in the company’s expanding renewable energy portfolio across the region. He noted that the project reflects INTEC’s continued commitment to supporting New Zealand’s clean energy transition while incorporating technologies that allow utility-scale renewable assets to remain adaptable as energy storage and grid technologies evolve.

Wood added that future-proofing renewable energy infrastructure for advancements in storage technologies remains a key focus for the company and will help maximise the long-term value of utility-scale energy investments.

INTEC Energy Solutions said it continues to strengthen its presence across Australia and New Zealand by delivering large-scale renewable energy projects through a combination of local project execution capabilities and international engineering expertise, supporting the region’s transition towards a cleaner energy future.
