JA Solar has successfully delivered the first batch of its high-efficiency DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules to the SuoRong 1GW photovoltaic project in Sichuan Province, China. Situated at a staggering 4,700 meters above sea level on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the project is part of the world’s largest renewable energy base.

The SuoRong project is a key component of the Yalong River Integrated Hydro-Wind-Solar Base—one of China’s nine major clean energy hubs—with a planned capacity exceeding 80GW. In 2024, JA Solar secured 2.4GW of the 5.1GW module tender issued by Yalong River Hydropower, including 808MW specifically for SuoRong. Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar, said, “The successful delivery to the SuoRong project reflects our ability to support major renewable energy initiatives under the most challenging conditions. JA Solar is committed to providing high-performance PV products and solutions that will drive the global clean energy transition.”

The site poses some of the most extreme conditions for solar power—bitter cold, strong winds, intense UV radiation, and wide temperature swings. JA Solar’s DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules are engineered to thrive in such environments, featuring advanced materials and design for durability and high performance.

To meet tight timelines, JA Solar implemented a robust end-to-end supply strategy, ensuring seamless production, logistics, and on-site delivery—despite the site’s remote location.

Once operational, the SuoRong project is expected to replace 590,000 tons of standard coal annually and cut carbon emissions by about 1.63 million tons, advancing China’s carbon neutrality targets while bringing long-term environmental and economic benefits to the region.
