Taiwan-based Linde LienHwa will debut what it says is the country’s first hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck at Energy Taiwan/Net-Zero Taiwan in Taipei on 29 to 31 October.
Linde LienHwa operates one of Taiwan’s largest fleets of industrial gas tankers and wants the on-site demo to help regulators and operators stress-test the pathway for hydrogen trucks, including type approval, safety certification and operations.
The showcase follows transport-policy updates in Taiwan that raised subsidies for fuel-cell buses to as much as NT$20m ($650k) per vehicle in September, though current support excludes trucks.
“Compared to battery-electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles have clear advantages: fast refuelling, extended range, and higher payload capacity,” said Christine Miao, Vice-President of Corporate Communications at Linde LienHwa. She added that these characteristics make hydrogen better suited to long-haul and heavy-duty cycles.
