LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base Sets Global Benchmark as First “Lighthouse + Zero-Carbon” Factory at Shanghai Climate Week 2025

At the Shanghai Climate Week 2025 event themed “Climate Lighthouse: A New Era,” LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base received the “Shanghai Climate Week Climate Lighthouse 2025 Manufacturing Lighthouse Exemplary Award,” becoming the world’s first in the photovoltaic industry to achieve the dual recognition of both a “Lighthouse Factory” and a “Zero-Carbon Factory.”

Shanghai Climate Week (SCW), driven by the mission of “Chinese Action, Asian Voice, Global Standards” and supported by both the United Nations and the Chinese government, has become a key platform for advancing global sustainable development. Its flagship initiative, “Climate Lighthouse,” launched in 2024, sets industry standards for low-carbon transitions by identifying and showcasing outstanding green practices across various sectors, reflecting its leadership philosophy of “Illuminating Oneself to Light the Way for Others.”

The SCW 2025 “Climate Lighthouse: A New Era” event was jointly organized by Rockwell Automation and the Shanghai Caohejing Development Zone, alongside leading industry partners. This award highlights the SCW Climate Lighthouse Committee’s acknowledgment of LONGi’s accomplishments in climate-friendly initiatives and encourages the company to continue advancing green technologies and smart manufacturing.

LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base, honored by the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the photovoltaic industry’s first global “Lighthouse Factory,” fulfilled all the evaluation criteria of the “Climate Lighthouse” initiative. Through its advanced use of automation, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digitalization, big data analytics, and 5G technology, the base has set a benchmark for smart manufacturing and digital excellence within the global PV sector.

Building on its “Lighthouse Factory” intelligent manufacturing foundation, the Jiaxing Production Base accelerated its zero-carbon journey in 2024. By utilizing digital tools to support low-carbon production, installing rooftop PV systems, purchasing green electricity certificates and carbon credits, and adopting energy-saving initiatives, the facility successfully achieved carbon emission reductions and neutrality. These efforts led to its recognition as the industry’s first “Dual Benchmark” base, certified under the ISO 14068 carbon neutrality standard.

During Shanghai Climate Week, LONGi took part in the “Empowering Green Supply Chain Transformation Forum,” co-hosted by the Global Climate Institute, the Institute of Public & Environmental Affairs (IPE), Carbon Newture, and Rockwell Automation. Dr. Xie Tian, General Manager of LONGi’s Strategic Management Center, participated in the roundtable discussion titled “Big Data and AI: Empowering Enterprises to Enhance ESG Performance,” where he shared insights into the practical applications and challenges of using data analytics and emerging technologies to strengthen ESG initiatives.

Dr. Xie emphasized that LONGi’s Jiaxing Production Base, recognized as the world’s first “Lighthouse + Zero-Carbon” factory in the photovoltaic sector, showcases the company’s leadership in merging digital innovation with green transformation. By integrating smart technologies into its advanced PV manufacturing processes, LONGi is driving sustainable production and advancing toward carbon neutrality. He also noted that LONGi has established data platforms to manage ESG disclosures and analyze sustainability metrics, underlining the significant role that big data and AI can play in promoting secure, efficient green development across industries.
