Matheson taps Nikkiso to build new Las Vegas ASU

Matheson Tri-Gas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nippon Sanso Holdings Corporation (CE&IG), has contracted US clean energy specialist Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases Group to build an air separation unit in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The plant is scheduled for start-up in 2027 and will produce oxygen, nitrogen, and argon to meet liquid gases demand in Nevada, California, Utah, and Arizona.

Nikkiso CE&IG will also use liquid nitrogen from the air separation plant to test the cryogenic pumps made at its nearby Las Vegas facility before they are installed.

George Pappagelis, President of Process Systems at Nikkiso CE&IG, said the project builds on several years of partnership between the two companies.
