Kansas helium producer Mendell Helium has completed its acquisition of UK helium exploration company M3 Helium, adding the company’s Fort Dodge site to its helium exploration portfolio.
Mendell Helium will now operate through M3 Helium, its wholly owned subsidiary, in the Fort Dodge region of Kansas.
In June 2024, Mendell Helium announced an option to acquire M3 Helium, although there was no certainty that the acquisition would proceed, with the companies subsequently extending the option exercise deadline to the .
This marked a further extension of the option, following an earlier amendment in September 2025 that moved the deadline to the end of November 2025.
In April, Mendell Helium completed drilling at M3 Helium’s Fort Dodge site, targeting the Rost 1-26 well and the Rost twin well, Rost 2-26, which is currently being completed.
The flagship well, Rost 1-26, reportedly tested for 5.1% helium composition and yielded a maximum flow rate of around 2,900 thousand cubic feet (Mcf) per day.
Helium production at Rost 1-26 began in , with the well later recording flow rates of 250 Mcf per day in December 2025.
