Messer and PVChem to build energy-efficient ASU in Vietnam

Industrial gas major Messer and Petrovietnam Chemical and Services Corporation (PV Chem) have formed a joint venture to build Vietnam’s first industrial gas plant to recover cold energy from LNG regasification.

The partners will jointly invest around $35m to build the plant, which is slated to produce 200,000 tonnes of industrial gases per year from Cai Mep Industrial Park in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The project combines cryogenic air separation technology with recovery of cold energy generated during LNG regasification – a process that converts LNG at -162C back to natural gas.
