mPower Technology Launches World’s First High-Volume Automated Solar Module Production Line for Space Applications

mPower Technology, Inc., a leader in advanced solar solutions for space applications, has officially launched a new high-volume solar module production line at Universal Instruments Corporation (UIC) in Conklin, New York. The facility, already producing DragonSCALES™ solar modules for Airbus under a recent contract, is the world’s first automated, large-scale solar module manufacturing site dedicated to space applications—marking a major milestone in industrial-scale space power production.

The new production line begins operations with an annual capacity of 1 MW of DragonSCALES™ modules, with plans to double output to 2 MW by mid-2026. This expansion reflects mPower’s readiness to meet growing global demand for lightweight, durable, and scalable solar solutions supporting LEO constellations, orbital vehicles, space habitats, and future Lunar and Mars missions.

“This facility is a milestone not just for mPower, but for space. It marks an inflection point in the space solar industry where small-scale, manually-intensive fabrication has now evolved into large-scale industrial production,” said mPower CEO Kevin Hell. “We’re already shipping flight hardware to customers, and as we ramp to multi-megawatt capacity over the next year, we’ll be in position to support the largest and most ambitious space power programs out there.”
