Nel Hydrogen US lands electrolyser order from Scottish hydrogen hub

Hydrogen technology company Nel Hydrogen US has secured an order for a 2.5 megawatt (MW) containerised proton exchange membrane (PEM) unit for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub project in the north-east of Scotland. It is the company’s second significant electrolyser order in the first quarter.

The green hydrogen production, storage and distribution facility is being delivered through a joint venture between energy giant BP and Aberdeen City Council.

Hydrasun, which specialises in fluid transfer, power and control systems, awarded the contract following its successful bid to design and integrate the hydrogen refuelling station and associated infrastructure.

Neil Thompson, CEO at Hydrasun, said awarding the initial contracts for major equipment packages for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub project is a key milestone for the hydrogen market and a boost for the supply chain.
