Iberdrola España, the company’s Spanish subsidiary, has commissioned a new photovoltaic plant in Ciudad Rodrigo — its second in Salamanca and one of the largest in Castile and León. With an installed capacity of 316 MW, the facility will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 155,000 homes, avoiding the emission of around 75,000 tonnes of CO₂ each year.

Developed in partnership with Norges Bank, the project spans 439 hectares between Valdecarros and the Torralba mountain range. It is equipped with over 460,000 photovoltaic modules and represents an investment of 200 million euros. During peak construction, it created 800 jobs, boosting the local economy.

Beyond clean energy production, Iberdrola underscores its commitment to sustainability and rural development. The company has launched initiatives to preserve biodiversity by protecting local flora and fauna, while also supporting cultural heritage and contributing to the long-term growth of rural Spain.
