Nippon Gases backs solar hydrogen project aiming to cut costs

Industrial gases major Nippon Gases has joined a project that aims to develop a solar hydrogen park in Belgium that could lower costs of green hydrogen.

The project hinges on hydrogen modules developed by technology partner Solhyd. These 50 kW modules are designed to produce hydrogen directly from sunlight and air.

They will be integrated into a traditional solar park in the city of Wallonia to produce both electricity and hydrogen from solar energy.

“By harnessing the sun directly, we lower costs and simplify the system,” said Jan Rongé, CEO of Solhyd. “We are proving that green hydrogen can be approached differently.
