North American CO2 tightness expected in 2026

Tightness in the North American carbon dioxide market is expected in 2026 due to several scheduled plant closures and slow progress in bringing new capacity online.

This outlook was shared by Maura Garvey, President of Intelligas Consulting, and Bruce Woerner of Woerner CO2 Consulting, during gasworld’s North American CO2 Summit.

The two, along with some fellow speakers from the morning, said that there will be shortages and tightness in the North American CO2 market next year.

This shortfall could impact industries relying heavily on CO2, including food and beverage production, healthcare, and manufacturing, potentially leading to higher costs and supply chain disruptions.
