Italian AI infrastructure specialist Energy Dome has signed a deal with US AI technology specialist New Era Energy & Digital Inc. (NUAI) to assess the use of its carbon dioxide (CO2)-based energy storage technology at a Texas-based data centre.
NUAI’s Texas Critical Data Centres (TCDC) site in Odessa will assess the use of Energy Dome’s carbon dioxide (CO2) battery technology to support the power supply for its AI data centre.
Energy Dome’s CO2 Battery Plus system liquefies CO2 when there are low energy demands. During high demand, the CO2 is vaporised using waste heat from the gas turbine, activating an expander that drives the turbine and increases overall energy output by improving system efficiency.
The closed-cycle system uses this waste heat to improve efficiency and lower costs.
