Crop services firm Nutrien has started a “controlled shutdown” of its Trinidad nitrogen operations today (21 October).
The closure of the Point Lisas facility is in response to port restrictions imposed by Trinidad and Tobago’s National Energy Corporation and what Nutrien termed as “a lack of reliable and economic natural gas supply” that has impacted cashflow.
Nutrien said it would continue to engage with stakeholders over Trinidad operations.
