Ohmium’s Comprehensive And Modular Hydrogen Solution Achieves Compact Horizontal Footprint Of 29.7 m²/MW Including Maintenance And Access Areas

Ohmium International, a pioneering manufacturer of advanced PEM electrolyzers, has introduced its third-generation Lotus electrolyzer, setting new benchmarks for efficiency, compactness, and cost-effectiveness in green hydrogen projects. With an optimized design, the Lotus Mark 3 achieves a remarkably compact total land usage of just 29.7 square meters per megawatt, including space for maintenance and access in its horizontal installation. This achievement significantly reduces the footprint required for green hydrogen production facilities while supporting large-scale deployment.

The Lotus Mark 3 electrolyzer system offers a comprehensive package that includes balance of plant components, power distribution and electronics, water treatment, gas-liquid separation, hydrogen purification, and cooling systems. By integrating these elements, the system seamlessly converts AC power and city water into pressurized hydrogen of 99.99 percent purity. This streamlined approach not only minimizes installation requirements but also lowers costs and enhances operational efficiency.

The hyper-modular design of the Lotus electrolyzer eliminates the need for cranes in most installations, reducing construction costs and simplifying site requirements. Its innovative rack-in/rack-out configuration improves maintainability, enabling easy access with standard equipment such as forklifts or hand trucks. This reduces downtime during servicing, optimizes maintenance schedules, and lowers operating expenses, making green hydrogen production more economically viable for project developers.

Markus Tacke, Ohmium CEO, stated, “By integrating a comprehensive system into a compact footprint, our latest Lotus electrolyzer is transforming the economics of green hydrogen production. We’re making it easier for hard-to-decarbonize industries to jumpstart their energy transition without breaking the bank, even in places with little available land that is expensive. In leveraging our advanced PEM technology and unique designs, we’re reducing costs and providing a flexible way to reach a more sustainable future.”

Ohmium has established itself as a global leader in green hydrogen solutions, with a strong project pipeline of more than 2 GW across three continents. Its electrolyzers have already been successfully deployed in extreme outdoor conditions ranging from -40°C to 55°C, demonstrating proven reliability and adaptability. The introduction of the Lotus Mark 3 further strengthens Ohmium’s position as a key enabler of clean hydrogen adoption worldwide, supporting the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon energy future.
