The Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) conducted a successful e-Reverse Auction (e-RA) on August 6, 2025, for Project-XII, which involves the production and supply of green ammonia. This project is part of the government’s SIGHT Scheme (Mode-2A-Tranche-I) aimed at promoting clean energy and reducing carbon emissions. The project, awarded to Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited-II, is located in Sagar and is designed to produce 60,000 metric tonnes of green ammonia.

The e-auction began with a reserve price of ₹75.95 per kilogram. After competitive bidding, Oriana Power Limited emerged as the top-ranked bidder with a winning price of ₹52.25 per kilogram. This final quoted amount was also the loaded bid value, indicating a clear offer with no further adjustments. The result reflects both keen market participation and a significant cost reduction compared to the starting price, which is seen as a positive move for the green energy sector.

This project falls under the Request for Selection (RfS) floated on June 7, 2024, by SECI with RfS number SECI/C&P/MI/00/0002/2024-25. The aim is to promote the domestic production of green ammonia as part of India’s broader green hydrogen mission. The auction process was conducted on the e-SecureAuction platform, ensuring transparency and fair competition.

By awarding this project, the government takes a major step toward encouraging private sector involvement in clean energy production. The success of this auction supports India’s commitment to sustainable development and the shift toward renewable energy. Once executed, this project will not only boost green ammonia output but also contribute to the country’s energy security and environmental targets by reducing dependency on fossil fuel-based methods.
