EcoSolar Energy Corp. (ESEC), a subsidiary of PetroGreen Energy Corp. (PGEC), has received an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) for its proposed 98.2 MWp Panitan Solar Power Project in Capiz province, clearing a key regulatory milestone for the development.

The approval allows the company to proceed with the next stages of project preparation and construction activities for one of its largest planned solar power facilities. The project is part of the Philippine government’s Green Energy Auction Program, which aims to accelerate renewable energy deployment across the country.

Once completed, the Panitan Solar Power Project is expected to add nearly 100 MW of clean energy capacity to the Visayas grid, supporting efforts to improve power supply reliability and address recurring energy constraints in the region.

The project also incorporates an agrivoltaics component, enabling the integration of solar power generation with agricultural land use. This approach is designed to optimize land productivity while supporting both renewable energy generation and local farming activities.

In addition to solar generation, the development is expected to include a battery energy storage system (BESS), which will enhance grid stability and improve the integration of intermittent renewable energy into the power network.

The Panitan project is set to become the largest solar facility in PetroGreen’s renewable energy portfolio and reflects the company’s broader strategy to expand its footprint in utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid clean energy systems.

Industry observers note that the project will contribute to strengthening energy security in the Visayas region while supporting the Philippines’ national targets for increasing the share of renewables in its power mix.
