Phillips 66 signs SAF deal with DHL Express

Energy company Phillips 66 has signed a contract to supply global logistics company DHL Express with 240,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel from its Rodeo renewable energy complex in California.

Phillips 66’s SAF plant has the capacity to produce 150 million gallons of SAF a year. The company started operations at the site in early 2024.

The contract signing between Phillips 66 and DHL Express is believed to be one of the largest SAF deals by a US producer and for the overall air cargo sector.

SAF supplied under the agreement will be delivered to Los Angeles International Airport, DHL’s US West Coast gateway, with future deliveries planned for other West Coast airports where it operates, including San Francisco International Airport.
