Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., has announced the sale of Project Higher Witheven, a 42.5 MWp standalone photovoltaic development located in Launceston, Cornwall, to a prominent infrastructure investor. As a leading global developer, owner, and operator of solar and energy storage assets, the company continues to expand its presence in the UK renewable energy sector. The Higher Witheven project marks another significant milestone in its efforts to bring commercially robust and environmentally responsible clean energy solutions to market.

The project recently secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) in the UK Government’s Allocation Round 7 auction, a key achievement that strengthens its long-term revenue stability. This CfD award not only boosts financial predictability but also aligns with the UK’s broader ambition to accelerate renewable energy deployment and reduce carbon emissions. With this contract in place, Higher Witheven stands on solid ground as it moves toward full development and eventual operational status.

Designed with a capacity of 42.5 MWp, the project is expected to reach grid connection and completion by the fourth quarter of 2027. Throughout its planning and design stages, Recurrent Energy placed strong emphasis on environmental stewardship. This includes a landscape-sensitive development approach that integrates biodiversity improvements, ensuring that the solar farm contributes positively to the local ecological environment. Such measures reflect the company’s commitment to balancing renewable energy production with responsible land use.

Once operational, Higher Witheven is projected to generate more than 46,000 MWh of clean electricity annually. This level of energy output is sufficient to power over 17,000 homes each year while preventing more than 8,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The project’s contribution will therefore support local communities, enhance energy security, and play a meaningful role in the transition to a low-carbon future.

The sale of Higher Witheven underscores the continued demand among investors for contracted solar assets in the UK. It also demonstrates the strength and credibility of Recurrent Energy’s development capabilities. By successfully originating, advancing, and bringing high-quality renewable projects to market, the company reinforces its strategic position within the sector. Commenting on the achievement, Ismael Guerrero, CEO of Recurrent Energy, noted that the transaction exemplifies the company’s ability to deliver competitive and market-ready renewable energy assets. He further emphasized that securing a CfD in Allocation Round 7 highlights the robustness of their UK pipeline.

Recurrent Energy remains committed to expanding its footprint across the United Kingdom. Through continued investment and development activities, the company aims to support the nation’s transition toward clean, reliable, and domestically produced power, contributing to long-term energy resilience and environmental sustainability.
