Up to one-fifth (20%) of the US merchant carbon dioxide supply may be needed to meet growing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) demand.
The observation was shared by Jeff Holyoak, Vice-President of Sales and Market Development, at gasworld’s North America CO2 Summit, who described new technologies as “creative destruction.”
Holyoak warned that SAF and emerging carbon utilisation technologies could force industrial gas companies to rethink how they source and allocate CO2, presenting both a major challenge and a strategic opportunity.
“Creative destruction is the market’s way of self-renewing,” he said. “And pain is the price of progress.”
