Berlin-based Saxovent Renewables has acquired a construction-ready 81.8-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) project from developer Milvio in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The project, located south of Rostock, has already secured a 20 MW bid under Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) tender, with the remaining capacity expected to be marketed through a power purchase agreement (PPA).

Saxovent has indicated that the plant offers the potential to include a battery storage system, which is currently under evaluation ahead of the PV plant’s full commissioning. The company confirmed that the solar park will be connected to the grid quickly but did not provide a specific timeline or investment details.

The photovoltaic facility will be developed on approximately 57.8 hectares of leased farmland, with part of the generated electricity expected to be purchased by a regional company.

Thorsten Freise, CEO of Saxovent Renewables, said the project “significantly strengthens our photovoltaic portfolio” and highlighted its technical appeal due to the potential for battery storage. The acquisition further expands Saxovent’s presence in Northern Germany and adds a major approved project to its renewable energy portfolio.
