Solarvest Holdings Berhad, a clean energy company based in Malaysia, has secured a new contract for a large-scale solar project. The company said its wholly owned subsidiary, Solarvest (M) Sdn Bhd, has been appointed as the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contractor for a 36 MW solar power plant in Kelantan.
The contract has been awarded by LSS Tunas Bersama Sdn Bhd, a project company formed to develop the plant under the government’s Large Scale Solar 4 (LSS4) programme. This development reflects the steady progress of Malaysia’s renewable energy sector and the government’s focus on increasing clean power capacity.
Under the EPCC scope, Solarvest will handle the full lifecycle of the project. This includes system design, procurement of equipment, construction of the plant, and final testing before the project starts operations. Once completed, the 36 MW solar facility is expected to supply clean electricity to the grid and support power demand in the region. It will also help reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable energy mix.
The project adds to Solarvest’s growing portfolio of solar developments. The company has been expanding its presence across Malaysia and other Southeast Asian markets, supported by rising demand for renewable energy solutions. Its experience in delivering utility-scale solar projects is seen as a key factor in winning this contract.
Construction of the solar plant is expected to begin soon. The project will follow timelines set by national energy authorities, with commercial operations planned after completion and testing. Large-scale solar projects like this play an important role in Malaysia’s long-term energy planning.
The development is also aligned with the country’s National Energy Transition Roadmap, which aims to increase the share of renewable energy in the national mix to 70 percent by 2050. Solar energy is expected to be a major contributor to achieving this target.
Apart from environmental benefits, the project is likely to support local economic activity. It is expected to create jobs during the construction phase and bring business opportunities to nearby communities in Kelantan.
With this latest contract, Solarvest continues to strengthen its position in the renewable energy sector. The project highlights the growing importance of large-scale solar investments in supporting energy security and reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the region.
