Sorigin RE Services Secures First Standalone BESS Project in Rajasthan

Sorigin RE Services has announced its entry into standalone energy storage with the award of a 250 MW / 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Rajasthan. The development marks a significant milestone for the company as it expands its footprint in India’s fast-growing energy storage segment.

The project will be executed across two locations—Giral and Suratgarh—with each site hosting 125 MW / 250 MWh capacity. Sorigin RE Services will undertake the project on a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) basis, covering design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the battery systems.

Awarded by a leading independent power producer, the project aims to strengthen grid reliability by enabling efficient storage of surplus renewable energy and dispatch during peak demand periods. This is particularly crucial as India continues to scale up solar and wind capacity, increasing the need for flexible and responsive grid infrastructure.

The announcement, made through an official company statement, highlights Sorigin’s strategic focus on advanced energy solutions beyond traditional solar EPC. Industry experts note that standalone BESS projects are gaining momentum in India, driven by supportive policies and rising demand for grid stability.

The project underscores the growing role of storage technologies in supporting India’s clean energy transition.
