As part of its ‘Sun Sheroes’ initiative, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited is highlighting the inspiring stories of women professionals who are contributing to the development of its upcoming 300 MW solar project awarded by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) in Koppal. The campaign shines a light on the women working directly on-site in technical roles, celebrating their leadership, resilience and expertise as they help drive India’s clean energy transformation.
Set against the vast, sunlit landscape of Koppal, the project is also telling a powerful story of opportunity and inclusion. At the core of the site are 19 women in technical positions, making up nearly 37 percent of the workforce. Their presence reflects both the sector’s evolving workforce and TPREL’s growing focus on building a more inclusive and diverse renewable energy environment.
For these women, the project site is far more than a place of work. It is where they lead teams, solve engineering challenges, coordinate operations and ensure seamless progress in a remote location traditionally dominated by men. Their responsibilities demand precision, problem-solving and technical confidence—qualities they have demonstrated with pride and determination.
Though they come from different parts of India, they are united by a shared commitment to proving that expertise, leadership and technical capability have nothing to do with gender. Many describe their involvement in the Koppal project as a milestone in their careers. It has given them opportunities to learn, grow, take on leadership roles and inspire other women in their communities.
As the 300 MW project moves closer to completion, these women are not only helping build an important solar installation—they are also helping redefine the story of India’s renewable energy sector. Their work shows that women are increasingly taking the lead in shaping the country’s clean energy future, contributing meaningfully to both progress on the ground and the broader transition to sustainable power
