Sunfire wins FEED for 40MW Finland hydrogen project

German industrial electrolyser firm Sunfire has been selected by P2X Solutions to conduct the front-end engineering design (FEED) study for a 40MW hydrogen project in Joensuu, Finland.

Green hydrogen produced by the electrolysis plant will be used to produce e-methanol, a synthetic fuel that plays a key role in reducing CO2 emissions. Sunfire will deliver its pressurised alkaline technology.

Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions, said the study is an important milestone towards investment at Joensuu, which will triple its green hydrogen production capacity.

It builds on the collaboration the two companies made commissioning the 20MW Harjavalta plant, the first industrial scale green hydrogen plant in Finland.
