Sungrow and Smart Commercial Energy Deliver Commercial Renewable Energy Storage Project for Team Medical Supplies in Australia

Sungrow has partnered with Smart Commercial Energy to deploy its PowerKeeper commercial energy storage solution for Team Medical Supplies, one of Australia’s largest medical wholesalers, enabling the company to improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity costs, and strengthen energy resilience.

The project integrates Sungrow’s SH110CX commercial hybrid inverter with two 50 kWh PowerKeeper battery stacks (ST100CF) alongside Team Medical Supplies’ existing 200 kW rooftop solar system. The solution is designed to maximise solar self-consumption while supporting the company’s temperature-controlled operations, including cold rooms, freezers, and air-conditioning systems that are critical for storing medical products.

According to Sungrow, the project addressed site-specific switchboard constraints that limited conventional battery integration. The hybrid inverter and battery system were integrated with the existing solar infrastructure, reducing installation complexity, minimising operational disruption, and preserving the value of the customer’s previous solar investment.

The PowerKeeper solution stores surplus solar energy generated during the day and discharges it during periods of higher electricity demand and pricing, helping the facility reduce grid dependence while improving overall energy efficiency.

Following installation, the battery system now supplies approximately 18% of the site’s post-solar electricity consumption, while reducing annual carbon emissions by an estimated 19 tonnes. The company also expects the project to deliver a strong return on investment through lower electricity costs and improved utilisation of its existing solar assets.

The deployment forms part of the ongoing collaboration between Sungrow and Smart Commercial Energy, which adopted a phased implementation strategy beginning with rooftop solar installations before integrating battery storage. The approach enables businesses to expand their energy infrastructure in line with operational requirements and commercial viability.

Sungrow said the project demonstrates the scalability of its commercial energy storage platform, allowing Team Medical Supplies to further expand its battery capacity as future energy requirements increase. The company added that it will continue working with partners across Australia to support businesses seeking to optimise renewable energy generation through integrated solar and energy storage solutions.
