Swiss carbon capture specialist Climeworks will remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere for European technology firm SAP in a deal that will generate 37,000 tonnes of carbon removal credits.

The multi-million-euro agreement will run until 2034 and will capture CO₂ through direct air capture (DAC), biochar, and enhanced rock weathering. The capture methods are tailored to SAP’s business context.

SAP has committed to achieving net-zero emissions across its value chain by 2030.

Sophia Mendelsohn, Chief Sustainability and Commercial Officer at SAP, said that investing in quality carbon removals addresses emissions that can’t be eliminated directly.
