Swedish infrastructure firm Hydri Energy has inaugurated a 10-station hydrogen refuelling network in Sweden, spanning from Skåne and the country’s west coast through to Stockholm.
The company, formerly Nilsson Energy, opened its newest site in Nyköpingsbro on May 19, completing the set of stations situated along some of the country’s busiest domestic trade routes.
Hydri says the network, which began with of a Port of Gothenburg station, advances EU-mandated goals requiring 34 stations to be constructed in Sweden by 2030.
It also said it has two stations expected for commissioning this year and eight more by 2028.
Hydri has not disclosed a single nationwide hydrogen supplier, but confirms all stations will use green hydrogen and meet EU refuelling standards with 700 and 350 bar dispensing available.
Kamilla Björkman, CEO of Hydri, said the network will provide a “fossil-free alternative” for haulage companies that does not affect operations.
The development adds to growing hydrogen refuelling installations across the continent as EU member states build toward targets for the use of renewable fuels of non-biological origin in road mobility under the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive III (RED III).
The directive mandates that green hydrogen comprise 1.2% of transport energy by 2030.
