The LEAPTING Intelligent Automatic Navigation PV Module Mounting Robot made a groundbreaking entry into the Australian market

Recently, LEAPTING has officially declared that it will provide an Automatic Navigation PV Module Mounting Robot for a large-scale photovoltaic power station project in Australia, and the robot will be dispatched from the Huzhou Smart Factory by the end of 2024. The successful conclusion of this order undoubtedly indicates that LEAPTING has achieved full automation of photovoltaic module installation in the Australian market for the first time! It also implies further expansion of the company’s intelligent application in the field of photovoltaic energy.

Opportunities and Challenges in the Australian PV Market

Australia, situated between the South Pacific and the Indian Ocean, and its distinctive geographical location has bestowed it with ample sunlight resources. As of the end of 2023, Australia’s installed photovoltaic capacity had reached 34.7GW. Nevertheless, as the size and weight of photovoltaic modules keep increasing, and the construction sites are frequently located in remote areas, the traditional manual installation method is confronted with the predicament of low efficiency, high safety risks, and escalating costs.

LEAPTING’s Innovative Solution: Leading the Way with Automation

To tackle these challenges, the project owner anticipates accelerating the construction process of the power station by introducing LEAPTING’s Automatic Navigation PV Module Mounting Robot and adopting the “Replacing manual installation with robots” model. The robot can handle photovoltaic modules weighing up to 30 kilograms with a powerful suction cup system and uses high-precision visual recognition technology to accurately perceive the structure and spacing of the supports, ensuring perfect installation of each module.

Smart Robots, Increased Efficiency, and Significant Cost Savings

In field tests conducted at LEAPTING’s Huzhou Smart Factory, the LEAPTING’s Automatic Navigation PV Module Mounting Robot demonstrated outstanding performance. It is designed with a high-clear crawler chassis and 3D SLAM mapping technology. The robot can automatically sense the terrain and environment of the power plant, enabling intelligent driving and obstacle avoidance. The vehicle is equipped with multi-directional sensors and integrated pose recognition technology, enabling the robotic arm to accurately grasp and place modules for continuous mounting. The robot can install 60 modules per hour, achieving 1pcs/min. Compared to traditional manual installation methods, automated installation not only significantly increases efficiency but also reduces the safety risks associated with manual labor, with an estimated 30% reduction in installation costs.

A Global Leap: A New Chapter in the Intelligent Automation of PV Installation

Since making a splash at the SNEC Exhibition in Shanghai in June 2024, LEAPTING’s Automatic Navigation PV Module Mounting Robot has garnered widespread attention from clients worldwide. While the field of photovoltaic module installation is still in the process of exploring commercial models, the successful application of past verification projects marks a significant leap forward for the industry towards intelligent and automated solutions.
