Houston-based green fuel specialist Synergen Green Energy has contracted technology and solutions company Topsoe to supply ammonia loop technology, catalysts, and supporting equipment for its first green ammonia plant in the US.
Synergen’s plant is planned for Texas, will have capacity to produce 210,000 tonnes of ammonia each year. The produced product will be used in industrial and maritime applications.
Start-up is targeted for late 2028, pending a final investment decision.
In addition to the Texas project, Synergen plans to develop green ammonia projects in Nebraska and India, each with the same capacity. The India plant is expected to be operational in 2028, and the Nebraska facility in 2029.
