TotalEnergies CEO says Mozambique LNG ready to progress

TotalEnergies is all set to build its delayed Mozambique LNG project, according to CEO Partick Pouyanné.

Speaking on a call to analysts today (30 October), he said, “We’ve had a long discussion with contractors … and realigned the whole system to properly execute this project – we’ve done all the detailed engineering and procurement, and we are purely in construction mode [from here].” The energy giant is working towards a delivery timeline of 2029.

Pouyanné clarified the rising budget, saying it had risen $4.5bn to $20.5bn, but he stressed this was around $5bn less than some reports had indicated.

Interest in the project has resurfaced after TotalEnergies and its partners lifted ‘force majeure’ on 25 October.
