Trinasolar, a global leader in smart photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has set a new industry benchmark by developing the world’s first industrial-standard solar PV module capable of delivering over 800W of maximum power. The 3.1m² module, built with advanced 210mm × 105mm perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells, has achieved a peak power output of 808W, as certified by TÜV SÜD, a globally recognized testing and certification body.

With conventional silicon-based solar cell efficiency nearing its theoretical limit, perovskite/silicon tandem technology is emerging as a breakthrough solution. This next-generation technology has the potential to push efficiency limits beyond traditional silicon cells, reaching up to 43% in theory. The introduction of tandem solar cells represents a pivotal shift in the solar industry, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable energy solutions.

Gao Jifan, Chairman and CEO of Trinasolar, said, “This is a monumental breakthrough for perovskite/silicon tandem solar modules and a key milestone in PV technology. The successful development of the world’s first 808W perovskite/silicon tandem solar module with a 210mm industrial-standard size is a significant step toward the industrialization of tandem modules. This achievement also reinforces Trinasolar’s leadership in PV innovation.”

Trinasolar has been at the forefront of perovskite tandem cell technology for over a decade, investing heavily in research and development. The company has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as Nanjing University, Jiangsu Province, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, leading numerous national research projects. To date, Trinasolar has filed 331 patents related to tandem technology, advancing efficiency through innovations in perovskite bulk doping, interface engineering, and composite layer design.

These efforts have accelerated the industrialization of perovskite/silicon tandem modules. Driven by its mission of “Solar Energy for All,” Trinasolar remains committed to pushing the boundaries of solar technology. By pioneering advancements in high-efficiency PV modules, the company continues to support the global energy transition, contributing to a more sustainable and net-zero future.
