Turbulent time – helium supply and the majors

The Middle East conflict has disrupted energy and helium supplies, and the majors have now had their say on the situation. Christian Annesley reports

The global supply of helium, which is a crucial specialty gas, has been seriously knocked by the Middle East conflict, as is now well known.

But producing and moving helium to where it is needed is a relatively slow-to-unfold operation, so the stalled-in-places pipeline we now have has taken a while to be felt in some quarters.
