UK gas engine power plant to recover 30,000 tonnes of CO2 per year

A 10-megawatt gas engine power plant being developed in the UK’s East Midlands region will include a carbon dioxide recovery system which is slated to capture 30,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The plant, in Worksop, has been commissioned by industrial technology firm Rolls-Royce, energy services provider Landmark, and CO2 specialist ASCO – which will provide the capture equipment.

The CO2 will be extracted from the exhaust gases of Rolls-Royces’ mtu gas engines before being processed, liquefied, and supplied to industries such as food and drink.
