UK-based Willis Sustainable Fuels and the Green Finance Institute are launching an accelerator aimed at supporting early-stage UK sustainable aviation fuel developments and helping scale the country’s domestic production capacity.
The move is designed to speed up progress towards the government’s SAF mandate, with WSF’s own Teesside project among those expected to benefit as it targets a final investment decision in 2026.
The mandate requires that aviation fuel supplied in the UK comprises at least 10% SAF by 2030, increasing to 22% by 2040.
The accelerator is intended to help project developers become investment-ready and overcome funding gaps for UK SAF projects, particularly in early-stage development.
