In a bid to boost solar energy adoption, the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has initiated a large-scale program to install 12,000 solar panels across rural regions of the state.
As part of the campaign, UPNEDA officials conducted a meeting in Manikpur block with local officers and representatives to discuss implementation strategies. The initiative aims to provide affordable and sustainable electricity to households, particularly in remote villages.
Officials highlighted that under the program, beneficiaries will be able to access solar connections ranging from 1 kilowatt to 10 kilowatts, with a subsidy of up to 80% provided on the total installation cost. Additionally, beneficiaries will be able to repay the balance at a nominal annual interest rate.
The project is expected to benefit over 500 households in the district in its initial phase. Beneficiaries will be required to contribute a minimum of ₹45,000, while the government will extend financial assistance up to ₹1.08 lakh depending on the capacity installed.
Authorities further noted that the initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s “Solar Home Free Electricity Scheme,” which aims to make rural households energy-independent and reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources.
UPNEDA has urged villagers to take full advantage of the scheme to ensure access to clean, reliable, and sustainable power in their communities.
