Voltalia has been selected by the Tunisian government for the 139-megawatt Menzel Habib solar project in the Gabès region, southeast Tunisia, following its success with the Sagdoud project last May. The future solar plant will generate energy equivalent to the annual consumption of over 620,000 residents, while reducing CO2 emissions by 360,000 tonnes annually.
“We are delighted to have won this new project. I would like to congratulate the teams, who have once again demonstrated their commitment and creativity”, says Sébastien Clerc, Chief Executive Officer of Voltalia.Construction is set to commence at the end of 2025, with operations beginning in 2027 under a 25-year electricity sales contract. Located just 125 kilometers from the Sagdoud project, the proximity will allow for shared construction, transport, and maintenance efficiencies, further enhancing its cost-effectiveness.
