Wawasan Dengkil Holdings Bhd has announced that its indirect subsidiary, WD Solar Kedah Sdn Bhd (WDSKSB), has entered into a sublease agreement for land in Pendang, Kedah, to develop a solar photovoltaic (PV) plant. The information was disclosed in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Under the agreement, WDSKSB has subleased a total of 278.8818 acres of land from Pembangunan Iltizam Sdn Bhd. The land consists of 10 separate parcels and will be used to house the company’s planned solar PV facility in the state.

The sublease is for a period of 25 years. According to the filing, the sublease will commence either from the site handover date or on December 1, 2025, whichever comes earlier. This long-term tenure is intended to support the development and operation of the solar project over its expected lifespan.

In terms of payment, the agreement provides an initial relief period. WDSKSB will be exempt from making monthly lease payments until June 30, 2026. After this exemption period, the company will be required to pay a monthly lease fee calculated on a per-acre basis.

This payment structure will apply for a period of 18 months or until the commercial operation date of the solar PV plant, whichever occurs first. The arrangement reflects Wawasan Dengkil’s ongoing involvement in renewable energy development and its focus on expanding solar power assets in Malaysia.
