World Biogas Summit: France leads on biogas developments says ADBA Chair

France is leading the way in European biogas development, according to the Anaerobic Digestion and Bioresources Association [ADBA] Chair Chris Huhne.

Speaking today at the opening of the World Biogas Summit 2025 in Birmingham, he said, “If you want to see how policy should work, look at what’s happening in France. No stop start. Clear blending mandate, and clear commitment to socialised grid connection costs – the French are doing all the right things.”

This year’s theme, “From Waste to Wealth: powering economics, protecting nature,” is showcasing the leadership of France in successfully deploying ‘methanisation’ across diverse regional landscapes.

Global water and waste management company which will capture carbon dioxide from the anaerobic digestion of biowaste at its Terres d’Aquitaine site in the French department of Gironde, which followed the European Energy Exchange launching the biogas production certificate registry last month.
