MNRE Secretary Reviews IREDA’s Strong Growth and Strategic Role in India’s Energy Transition

Smt. Nidhi Khare, Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), visited the Corporate Office of IREDA in New Delhi. She was welcomed by Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, and Dr. Bijay Kumar Mohanty, Director (Finance), followed by a high-level review meeting with senior officials.

CMD Shri Das presented IREDA’s strong performance—highlighting a 27% CAGR in loan book and 51% CAGR in Profit After Tax over the past five years, supported by significant growth in loan sanctions and disbursements.

Discussions focused on IREDA’s pivotal role in achieving India’s 500 GW non-fossil fuel target by 2030 and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat. Shri J.V.N. Subramanyam, Joint Secretary, MNRE, also attended the session along with other ministry officials.

IREDA’s efforts to cut borrowing costs and improve Net Interest Margin—without adding pressure on developers—were also acknowledged. The agency recently became the first NBFC and PSU to publish FY 2024–25 audited results within just 15 days of year-end.

Secretary Khare praised IREDA’s performance and reiterated MNRE’s support in accelerating India’s renewable energy growth and decarbonization goals.
