Power Exchange India Limited (PXIL) successfully conducted the second Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) trading session for the month of April 2025, in accordance with the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (CERC) direction issued in Order of Petition No. 379/MP/2024. This marked the second REC session of the fiscal year 2025–26 and the 47th auction session under the CERC’s Renewable Energy Certificates (Terms and Conditions for Renewable Energy Generation) Regulations, 2022, which have been in effect since December 5, 2022.

A total of 3.46 lakh RECs were successfully transacted in this session. Before the auction, over 424.26 lakh RECs were available in the market for trading. The trading was conducted in line with the Hon’ble Delhi High Court’s Daily Order dated May 11, 2023, which lifted the previous restriction on the sale of RECs issued before October 31, 2022. As a result, all RECs held by sellers were eligible for trade in this session.

The session comprised two key components:

  • Session ID REC3004202501: Transactions involving non-solar RECs issued prior to April 1, 2017, traded at a floor price of ₹1,500/MWh, as per CERC’s Order in Petition No. 2/SM/2017 dated March 30, 2017.
  • Session ID REC3004202502: Transactions involving RECs from various renewable technologies, including solar, wind, hydro, small hydro, biomass, and other eligible renewable sources.

PXIL extends its sincere gratitude to all market participants for their continued support of the exchange platform throughout the year. The organization remains committed to serving the needs of participants in the REC market and across all other segments.
