Alpex Solar Consortium Secures ₹350 Crore Order From CMPDIL, Subsidiary Of Coal India, To Boost Renewable Capacity

Greater Noida-based Alpex Solar Ltd, a prominent manufacturer of solar energy systems listed on NSE Emerge, has secured a significant engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract worth ₹349.99 crore. The contract was awarded by the Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, and was won in consortium with NVNR Power & Infra Ltd. Alpex Solar holds a 70% share in the consortium, further solidifying its role as a key player in India’s renewable energy landscape.

The project involves the complete design, engineering, procurement, supply, construction, and commissioning of a grid-connected, ground-mounted solar power plant. This plant will be located at Nandan Washery in the Kanhan area under the jurisdiction of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). The consortium is also responsible for constructing a 32kV double-circuit transmission line from the main control station to the feeding substation, along with associated bay extension works. The power generated from this project will be used to supply various load centres within WCL through open access, ensuring captive usage of renewable energy.

This new contract adds to a series of recent achievements by Alpex Solar, showcasing its growing capabilities across the solar value chain. Earlier, the company received a ₹210 crore order from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for supplying solar modules. In May 2025, Alpex secured a ₹378 crore order for solar PV module supply to a leading industry player. Additionally, it won a ₹65.33 crore order from the Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HAREDA) under the PM-KUSUM scheme, which includes the supply of 2,119 solar water pumps for agricultural use. In April 2025, the company also received a ₹380.52 crore order for supplying solar modules to a prominent Indian manufacturer.

Mr Ashwani Sehgal, Managing Director, Alpex Solar, said in a statement, “As one of the leading manufacturers of integrated solar systems, it has been our constant endeavour to provide cutting-edge solutions to companies operating in the renewable energy space. The slew of orders bagged by us in the past few months is testament to our comprehensive capabilities and commitment to excellence. Furthermore, with our recent order win, we have solidified our position as a formidable EPC player in the solar sector.”

He also added, “The new order from CMPDIL is a testament to our exemplary efforts, ensuring that we continue to refine our capabilities to cater to the integrated opportunity ecosystem of solar energy, from manufacturing cells, modules, and frames to EPC services. We continue to be committed to creating value for our stakeholders – and building a globally-reputed institution going forward.”

India currently ranks fourth globally in installed renewable energy capacity, including large hydro projects. At COP26, the country set a target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030. Alpex Solar continues to align itself with this national goal through investments in expanding its manufacturing capacity and advancing technology.

The company manufactures photovoltaic (PV) modules using both monocrystalline and TopCON cell technologies. It offers a wide range of solar solutions, including EPC services for both surface and submersible AC/DC solar pumps. Alpex has also ventured into the green energy sector with the establishment of its subsidiary, Alpex GH2 Private Ltd (AGPL), which focuses on developing green hydrogen solutions.
